How My God Rolls

Elise Christian shares her experience in the Philippines with Harvest Missions.

This mission trip to the Philippines was different then any other trip I’ve been on. Instead of just physically building the church we helped build the church by going into the schools and neighborhoods and telling people about Christ. The people are so open to the gospel and quick to give thanks to God for everything they receive.

One of my favorite things we did was share testimonies. After hearing several different testimonies it struck me how broken we all are. All of us have things that we struggle with. God still uses us, problems and all.

My favorite thing about missions is seeing God work and feeling His presence. At home it’s so easy to get distracted by the world, work, and the general business of life in the states. In the mission field most of those distractions are gone and you can see God more clearly. I can see Him do amazing things like the day we weren’t allowed into the school so the teachers brought the kids to us at the community plaza. God did exceedingly more then we had planned, and allowed us to minister to so many people.

I’m learning that when I come home I’m simply moving from one mission field to the next. I can continue to share and reach out to people with the gospel here in the U.S. I want to see God do great things here, too.
