Despite a Little Rain, Weekend Harvest With Greg Laurie Outreach Draws Some 17,500 Long Islanders
Hundreds of colorful umbrellas dotted the stands at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Saturday night, providing a stark contrast to the gray sky above that drizzled a light rain on the crowd gathered for the first night of "Harvest 09 at Jones Beach," held June 13–14 in Long Island, New York. But a little rain didn't stop Long Islanders from making a strong showing, as some 17,500 people attended the two-night evangelistic outreach to listen to a straightforward message of faith from Southern California pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie and music from popular Christian bands like P.O.D., Kutless, Jars of Clay, Delirious, and LaCrae.

Harvest with Greg Laurie Returns to New York, Bringing Outreach to Long Island, June 13–14
After drawing more than 21,000 people to events at Madison Square Garden in 2007 and 2008, Harvest with Greg Laurie will return to New York this summer, holding its first-ever evangelistic outreach on Long Island. Called "Harvest 09 at Jones Beach," the two-night event will take place at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, Long Island, on June 13–14.

The Black Hills Harvest with Greg Laurie drew people from five states over the past weekend, May 15–May 17, but the lasting impact on its host city, Rapid City, may be immeasurable. More than 19,000 people—roughly a third of Rapid City's total population—flocked to the Mount Rushmore Civic Center over three nights to hear a message of God's love and redemption at the first large-scale evangelistic outreach to take place in the area in ten years.

Greg Laurie's autobiography, Lost Boy, has been nominated for Outreach Magazine's Outreach Resource of the Year in the Evangelism category. Lost Boy, published earlier this year by Regal Books, was one of 10 nominees in the Evangelism category.
