MUSICIAN BIOS:

KATINAS:
Known as the Katinas, Samoa-born brothers Sam, Joe, Jesse, John, and James have been singing together since birth, encouraged by their musician father. Showcasing tight vocal harmonies and mastery of a myriad of instruments, the Katinas offer a smooth sound that spans genres including Motown, urban hip-hop, neo-soul, and islands-influenced pop. Winners of one Dove Award and two ASCAP Awards, the Katinas recently released ROOTS (Gotee Records), their fourth national album.

CRYSTAL LEWIS:
Vibrant and compelling, Crystal’s powerful voice and distinctive rhythm and blues style have made an indelible mark on contemporary Christian music. A Dove Award winner, Crystal began performing as lead vocalist with bands at the age of 15 and began a solo career in 1987. In 1992, Crystal and her husband started a record label called Metro One. Her music has established her not only as a bold soloist, but a gifted songwriter and compassionate communicator.

KUTLESS:
Kutless combines sincere and plaintive vocals with absorbing, intense new hard rock. After releasing their self-titled first album last year, the Portland, Oregon band went on to become the best selling new Christian artist of 2002. Kutless recently released their second album, Sea of Faces.

DOYLE DYKES:
 A guitar legend in the making, Doyle Dykes lists a wide array of musical influences, from the country stylings of Chet Atkins to the rock and roll of Duane Eddy and the Beatles. Doyle’s unique brand of country guitar has taken him from the Grand Ole Opry stage to the airwaves, and his music has been heard on United Airlines, Air Canada, National Public Radio, Disney’s California Adventure, and even the Space Shuttle Atlantis in September 2002.

7 SIMPLE PIECES:
Hailing from the windward side of Oahu in Hawaii, 7 Simple Pieces is comprised of seven musicians from various walks of life who collectively share their passion for Christ through song. Their music reflects touches of reggae, hip-hop and alternative rock in a fresh, energetic, driving sound.

KAPENA:
Since launching a musical career at Kaimuki High School as a male trio in 1986, Kapena has become a familiar name in the group’s native Hawaii and throughout the South Pacific, racking up number-one hits on Hawaiian and Hawaiian reggae charts. Kapena has released 15 albums to date, bringing listeners a unique blend of traditional Hawaiian music, reggae, and country western.
