Dallas metro residents who have had the opportunity to listen to Greg Laurie’s radio program “A New Beginning” daily on The Word FM (KWRD) will now have the opportunity to listen to him in person—and to bring a friend. The Southern California pastor and evangelist, known for his popular Harvest Crusade events that have drawn more than 3 million to stadiums and arenas around the world, will return to the Dallas area on Jan. 26 for “An Evening of Evangelism” at Prestonwood Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m.
Co-hosted by The Word FM and Prestonwood Baptist Church, the evening will combine the best in contemporary Christian music with a talk by Laurie. Musical guests at “An Evening of Evangelism” will include Grammy-nominated vocalist Crystal Lewis and popular Christian artist Fernando Ortega. The event is free and open to the public.
"Greg Laurie and the Harvest team have many great friends in the Dallas area who listen to the “A New Beginning” radio program,” said Harvest event director John Collins. “It is our hope that through a personal visit from Pastor Greg, they will be encouraged and challenged in their relationship with God. We're also hopeful that many who come will bring along friends who have never had the opportunity to hear a Gospel presentation and commit their lives to Christ.”
“An Evening of Evangelism” will mark Laurie’s third evangelistic outreach in Dallas, with his last visit occurring when he spoke at the Harvest 2000 event at Prestonwood Baptist Church in November 2000. “An Evening of Evangelism” will be broadcast live on Daystar Television Network from 7:30 – 9 p.m.
With a trademark ability to present a straightforward Gospel message in a culturally-relevant format that particularly appeals to youth, Greg Laurie has translated this message to a variety of audiences over the past 30 years—at home and overseas. “While Laurie makes liberal use of modern methods in presenting the Gospel, his ministry is built on a solidly conservative foundation…Presenting a basic Christian message, he will try to help young and old look down their own roads and decide whether to let Jesus steer their journeys of life.” (The Press-Enterprise, Riverside, Calif., Aug. 7, 2003)
In addition to serving as senior pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif. (the eighth largest church in the U.S.), Laurie founded the evangelistic Harvest Crusade events in 1990. During the past 14 years, the Harvest Crusades have drawn more than 3 million people to arenas and stadiums across the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand.
