California-Based Outreach Joins Local Church Network to Help Launch Three-Year, Locally Led Evangelistic Campaign

RIVERSIDE, Calif., August 11, 2003—Bringing its signature mix of hip music and culturally relevant messages of faith, Harvest with Greg Laurie will travel to New Zealand for the first time ever, 19-20 Sept., for the Auckland Harvest Mission, a two-night evangelistic outreach at the Logan Campbell Centre.

The Auckland Harvest Mission has been supported by approximately 100 churches of various denominations from the Auckland region.  The event has be organised by an executive team chaired by Rev. Hon. Graeme Lee.  Lee said, “We are thrilled to have Greg Laurie come to Auckland with his high-energy, straightforward style of communication.”

The Auckland Harvest Mission marks the final stop on an international tour by Harvest with Greg Laurie, a Southern California-based evangelistic organization that has drawn more than 2.9 million people to events in the U.S. and Australia to date. Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif. (the eighth-largest church in the U.S.), co-founded the Harvest events in 1990.

Featuring the latest Christian alternative and rock music and a straightforward message of faith, the Auckland Harvest Mission will host musicians Crystal Lewis, Switchfoot, as well as local Kiwi bands The Lads and Form.

Dubbed “the evangelical festival that revolutionized the old-fashioned revival meetings with its mix of scriptures and pop culture,” (Los Angeles Times, Aug. 27, 1998), Laurie’s Harvest events attract a broad audience, and particularly appeal to the young and young-at-heart.
