Bookstore Named "Store of the Year"

Harvest Christian Fellowship's Bookstore Named "Store of the Year" by Christian Booksellers Association at Ceremony in Atlanta

Harvest Christian Fellowship's church bookstore, The Harvest Store, was awarded the prestigious Jim Carlson CBA Store of the Year Impact Award by the Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) during its annual convention held July 8–12 in Atlanta, Georgia. CBA is the trade association for Christian Retail which serves 2,055 member retail stores and 570 member publishers, record companies and other product suppliers. George Thomsen, manager of The Harvest Store, accepted the award.

The Jim Carlson CBA Store of the Year Impact Awards are given annually to CBA member stores that implement creative ideas and best practices to improve their business and aspire to higher levels of performance in key retail disciplines. Stores are evaluated on factors including financial and inventory ratios, industry best practices, and use of innovative solutions. More than 2,000 Christian bookstores across the U.S. are CBA members, and Harvest Christian Fellowship is just the second church bookstore to receive the Jim Carlson award.

"I am thankful for this recognition of our store. It is a great honor to be recognized when there are so many outstanding other retailers in our industry," said The Harvest Store manager George Thomsen. "It is a testimony to the Lord's blessing upon us, Harvest Christian Fellowship's commitment to excellence in all that it does, and the truly outstanding bookstore staff."

Founded by Pastor Greg Laurie in 1972, Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., draws some 15,000 people to services on a weekly basis. In addition to receiving the Jim Carlson award, in recent years Harvest Ministries has received awards for Best Ministry Website (2005) and Best Weekly Television Program (2006).
