Madison Square Garden Announcement
HARVEST WITH GREG LAURIE TO BRING CRUSADE OUTREACH TO MADISON SQUARE GARDEN IN SEPTEMBER
Evangelistic Harvest Crusades, Which Have Drawn More Than 3.4 Million Around the World Since 1990, Will Hold First
Major New York City Event
RIVERSIDE, Calif., Feb. 13, 2007—New York City has a long history of large-scale evangelistic events and prayer
revivals. From the Fulton Street Revival in 1857 to The Billy Sunday Campaign in 1917 to Billy Graham’s renowned crusade in
1957, New York has represented a microcosm of the world—a place where everyone gathers and where many are searching for
spiritual significance.
And although times have changed, the need for large-scale evangelistic gatherings still exists in contemporary culture as a
place for people to gather with others to learn more about God’s love and make a public declaration of faith. Recognizing
this need, Southern California pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie will bring his evangelistic Harvest Crusade outreach to New
York to The Theater at Madison Square Garden for a one-night rally on Sept. 23. In addition to a talk from Laurie, the Harvest
event will feature music from Grammy-nominated musical group MercyMe. Since 1990, Laurie’s Harvest events have drawn more than
3.4 million people to stadiums and arenas around the world.
"New York City has a rich history of evangelistic outreach, but even as the epicenter of business and culture in the U.S., there
is ongoing spiritual need," said Laurie. "We are excited to work with pastors throughout the city to bring a Harvest event to
people who might not otherwise take the time to explore a relationship with God."
Harvest with Greg Laurie first visited New York City in 2000, hosting a one-night event at Centennial Hall. The rally at Madison
Square Garden will mark Harvest’s first major outreach in the city.
Called the "evangelist of the future" by Billy Graham, Laurie draws on contemporary means to describe the relevance of faith in
today's world at each Harvest event. Laurie's talks encompass topics that appeal to people of any age and answer questions like:
Why am I here? Is God real? What happens when I die?
In addition to serving as founder and evangelist for the Harvest Crusade events, Greg Laurie is the senior pastor at Harvest
Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., one of the 15 largest churches in the U.S. He also serves on the board of directors
for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse.
