Anaheim Press ReleaseHARVEST ROCKS
With More Action Than Ever, Greg Laurie and Harvest Crusades Kick-Off Their Twelfth Season July 4-8 at Edison Field in Anaheim
ORANGE Co., Calif., June 15, 2001—With music that will stand you on your ear, ‘boards and bikes screaming through the stadium, and an in-your-face message that redefines retro, the 12th edition of the Anaheim Harvest Crusades promises to be a California anecdote to sleepy religion.
While pop culture goes retro with bowling shoes and Capri pants, evangelist Greg Laurie goes back centuries for a timeless message. That message, combined with MTV-style music and staging, brings Harvest Crusades and Greg Laurie back to Anaheim’s Edison Field July 4-8 for an explosive 2001 kick-off of their twelfth year in Southern California.
The five-day Crusade will feature rock and alternative style bands, plasma screens, video monitors, and videos, along with events and entertainment that combine the best of California culture with the unchanging message of God’s love.
Beginning Wednesday, July 4, Harvest will host a 45-minute pre-Crusade concert featuring alternative band Audio Adrenaline. A Fourth of July fireworks display will cap off the Wednesday night Harvest Crusade. Each subsequent night will include a new array of activities – from the Kids Night on Thursday, to the Revolution Skateboard Exhibitions and Harvest Jam! on Friday and Saturday, to the car, bike, and hot rod show on Sunday.
“Harvest Crusades mix 21st century music and technology with a 1st century message,” said Laurie. “And the message is relevant no matter what the millennium.”
In 2001, Harvest ministries has been developing new and innovative ways to engage listeners with culture-current video roll-ins and cutting edge music coupled with Laurie’s down-to-earth presentation of the Gospel message in a new weekly service called “Day 7” (TBN, Saturday nights, 8 p.m. PST). The Sunday night services held in Laurie’s home church, Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, have been teeming with young people eager to learn how to know and apply biblical principles in the real world they live in. It’s an event that touches old and young alike.
