Meet Mendric. He is a high school student. This is his third crusade. He and his family had missed the Anaheim Crusade, but were happy to have the chance to drive to LA to attend. Mendrick was accompanied by his parents, his sister and her friend. The girls wanted to come out to see Lecrae, but Mendric wanted to hear Pastor Greg’s message.
“Every time I come, I want to reinstate myself with Christ. I feel like when I do something bad I want to make sure that I am good with God.” What I like about this young man is his heart and desire to make things right with God. I spoke to him about God’s indefinite forgiveness and while yes, you do need to ask God for forgiveness for your sins, he could do that at home, in the car, at school, or anywhere he is at and at any time. I wanted him to understand that he didn’t have to wait to go to a crusade to have his sins forgiven.
God is always there and while it may be hard for us to forgive ourselves and forget our sins, it is not hard for God. “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:8–12).
