Hope International is a Christian University located seven miles from Angel Stadium; yet had heard little about the Harvest Crusades. This year, that changed. In the middle of their most physically demanding time of training, and as tired as they were, the HIU’s woman’s soccer team made a decision to attend this event.
All 18 girls and their coaches packed up their school vans and made their way to Angel Stadium. Not sure what to expect, and facing many obstacles just to get to there, they arrived at the front gates not knowing exactly what to expect. Finding their seats they watched the bands perform, listened to the guest speaker, and followed along with the message Pastor Greg gave. Greg read from Matthew 9 and spoke about how there is not one person able to fool God; how all must follow Him and live a genuine life of faith for Christ. Pastor Greg made it clear that everyone has sins to forgive, and God is the only one to fulfill that need. One of the girls stated “His message was inspirational, motivational, and very touching.” Another mentioned how Pastor Greg “made it very personal. Even Greg went through hardships and pain, but we can’t let those things completely stop our life.”
The girl’s coach commented, “Most of the girls thought it was a good time and truthfully a nice way to relax after a long week. Many of us were amazed at the numbers of people that went down front.” The overall impression of the crusade to the girls was nothing less than positive, and all were blessed by it in one way or another.
