Saturday night at the Seattle Harvest, several hundred people came down to the floor of Key Arena and made professions of faith in Jesus Christ. Each person who came forward was met by one of a team of volunteers working as decision follow-up counselors.
I had a quick chat with Scott, a Decision Follow-Up Supervisor. Scott is a youth pastor and this is the first Harvest event he has volunteered with. When he heard about the Seattle Harvest’s need for volunteers, he attended informational meetings and joined the decision follow-up team.
Decision follow-up counselors provide each person who responds to the invitation with a Bible and pray with them. Counselors also answer any questions from those who have come forward. They’re a vital part of the event, making sure everyone responding has someone to talk with right away and that they all go home with the Word of God.
Tonight the venue is packed once again, and Scott says, “I hope this is an indication of what harvest is available here. People write off Seattle. It’s been a dark place, but obviously some people want to hear the truth.”
Please pray for the follow-up counselors as they go forward onto the floor tonight and meet with those who have responded to the invitation Pastor Greg will give. And please also pray for those people the counselors will meet with, that tonight will be a night of salvation.
