The Crowd gathers
6:30 - Welcome to the final night of the Harvest Crusade in San Diego. In
celebration of Independence Day, we will have the largest 4th of July fireworks display in San Diego
County here at Qualcomm Stadium at the conclusion of the evening. Tonight's musical guests will include
The Harvest Crusade Band, a local gospel choir, Terry Clark, Dennis Agajanian,Crystal Lewis, Steve Grace,
and Big Tent Revival!
6:37 - People are streaming into the stadium and beginning to find their seats. There are many
tailgate parties still happening in the parking lot. It is a beautiful day here in San Diego - what an awesome
day to celebrate our country's independence! It would be an even more awesome day to give your life to Christ
tonight and celebrate the independence and freedom that only Christ can give!!
6:45 - Many people are continuing to poor into the stadium. It appears that there are a lot of
different church groups gathering here tonight. Many church buses are filling the stadium parking lot. It
appears that tonight's crowd size will be even greater than last night's "Harvest Jam!"
7:00 - An enthusiastic crowd is in place and eagerly awaiting tonight's music, gospel message
and fireworks display. The worship should begin here in about 15 minutes!
Sing Praises to the Lord!
7:15 - The Harvest Crusade Band members are taking their places on stage and getting ready
to begin tonight's event. They open with "Everything That Has Breath." Hanz Ives, Crusade Band leader,
says that we are here to celebrate not only our country's liberty, but the liberty that comes from
our saviour, Jesus Christ!! The band follows with "Mountains Tremble."
The GMW Gospel choir is now on the stage and joining in with the Harvest Crusade Band. They all
sing together "Because We Believe."
7:30 - Bob Shank, Treasurer of the Harvest Crusades Board of Directors, welcomes the crowd
and introduces Marine Color Guard for the Presentation of Colors.
Terry Clark sings "America the Beautiful" as the Color Guard faces the crowd. The audience stands
and joins in singing along. A preview of fireworks go off in the background. Pastor Mike MacIntosh
from Horizon Christian Fellowship leads us all in prayer for the nation. He then reads a proclamation
from the Susan Golding, Mayor of San Diego for The San Diego Harvest Crusade.
7:30 - Pastor Greg Laurie welcomes the crowd and announces that over the past two nights of Harvest
Crusade, 2500 people have already made commitments to Christ. Pastor Greg now introduces Dennis Agajanian.
Dennis performs "Via Delarosa." Dennis shares that our government tries so hard to find peace, but that
it's only through Jesus Christ that we can find true peace. Dennis then sings and plays "Lord, Give Us
America."
8:00 - T-shirts are being launched into the crowd from giant slingshots from home plate and the
3rd base area!! The crowd is going crazy!!
Big Tent Revival is back tonight, and they are now on stage and performing "If Loving God Was a Crime."
Lead singer and lead guitarist Steve Wiggins shares that about 6 or 8 months ago, Greg Laurie had asked
him to write a song about "choosing life." The next song is called "Choose Life." The lyrics are simple,
yet what a powerful message this song brings! - "Choose life, that you might live.....the choice is set
before you now, living or dying, choose life...."
8:15 - Bob Shank announces that the offering is about to be received. He now prays for the offering
and introduces a short video which is being shown during the offering. The video shows clips from previous
Harvest Crusades. Immediately following tonight's offering will be musician Steve Grace from Australia, who will
be sharing in music. Steve says that he is happy to be in San Diego and that he has never celebrated the 4th
of July. But he wrote this song for America. He sings "America's Song." He sings of how "I know God has a
plan for America....I still believe in the land of liberty, I only pray America will see...have your hearts
grown cold and your eyes too blind to see?"
8:28 - Bob Shank introduces Crystal Lewis. She opens with "God's Been Good to Me." The gospel choir
is now back on the stage and joins Crystal as they sing together "Lean on Me."
8:40 - Bob Shanks asks that the audience be still and prepare themselves for the message that
Pastor Greg will share here tonight. Crystal Lewis sings "My Redeemer Lives."
The Gospel is preached
Greg Laurie, the pastor
of Harvest Christian Fellowship and featured speaker of the Harvest
Crusades, will be sharing the message.
8:45 - Tonight's message is titled "America's Only Hope." The message is taken from the book of
II Chronicles Chapter 7, verse 14.
Pastor Greg shares that tonight we have made history in San Diego Qualcomm Stadium - we have 37,000 in
attendance here tonight!! We also have over 3,000 people tuned in right now, watching this live on the internet!!
Pastor Greg shares that tonight we celebrate our last 4th of July of the 20th Century!
Pastor Greg asks "Are you happy here tonight?" He mentions that awhile back ABC News ran a special called
"The Mystery of Happiness: Who has it..How to get it." He shares how many think they have the answers, but
the answers are empty. Greg shares that Abraham Lincoln answered this question many years ago. He said "We
have forgotten God." Greg shares that it's even more true today. We have thrown God out of the classroom.
We have thrown him out of the courtroom,(Our judicial system was built on Biblical truth)and we have done
our best to throw him out of modern culture. Pastor Greg says that we have "sown the wind and reaped the
whirlwind."
Pastor Greg shares that the only hope for America is not a political one, but a spiritual one. He speaks
of how it's natural to want to blame something for all of the horrible killings that have gone on, but the
problems are within. The problem is in the heart. He shares that the Bible says "The heart is evil and
deceitfully wicked, who can know it?"
Pastor Greg shares that since the problem is within our hearts, only God can change us! He shares that
so many people believe that they are Christians, yet their lives never change. He shares how God gave
this statement for a nation and for us as individuals. II Chronicles 7:14 says "If my people, which are
called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Pastor Greg says that this is not about how good of a life you have lived, it's about what God has done for
you. He loved you so much that he gave his life for you. God gives us a choice as to what path we will take
tonight. Jesus gives you a lifeline from heaven, you just need to take it! You might think, "What must I do?"
First, you need to admit that you are a sinner. Second, you need to ask for his forgiveness. Third, you need
to repent. Fourth, you need to make a public stand for Christ. It's time to choose life now, that you might
live!! God cares for you as an individual! Pastor Greg says that to be undecided, is to make a decision against
Christ. He asks for people to make a public stand for Christ now. He asks for people to begin making their
way down to field right now.
The work of the Holy Spirit
9:20 - Crystal Lewis sings "Come Just As You Are" as hundreds of people make their way down
onto the outfield here at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA to make a profession of faith. If you have
never made a decision to follow Christ, you can make the same decision wherever you are. As Pastor Greg
prays with the new believers on the field tonight, you can pray for Jesus to come into your life too.
If you have made this decision, press the "feedback" button and let us know!! At this time, Big Tent
Revival is singing once again "Choose Life." What an awesome sight it is to watch hundreds of people
continue to stream onto the field to "choose life" for themselves by giving their lives to Christ.
Believers watching and listening on the internet, please be in prayer for these new believers. The
Harvest Crusade Band is on stage now and singing "He Knows My Name."
9:35 - Pastor Greg prays with the hundreds of new believers on the field now. Greg prays,
Thank you Lord, for coming into my life. I admit that I am a sinner and I choose to follow you. Thank
you for dying for my sins, that I might have life. Amen!!" Pastor Greg shares with them that they need to
find one of the counselors on the field who will share with them and give them a "New Believers New Testament."
Again, if you are watching on the internet and would like to make a decision for Christ, please press the
"feedback" button and we would be happy to send you the same materials that are being given to those on
the field.
9:40 - Fireworks celebration will begin in about 7 more minutes!
9:46 - 1 minute until Fireworks!!
10:00 - Fireworks presentation was fantastic!! Thank you for joining us tonight and please
join us in Anaheim at Edison Field for the Anaheim Harvest Crusade July 23 - 25 at 7:30 pm! God bless
