Welcome to the third night of the Central Valley Harvest Crusade
at Sunkist Stadium in Visalia, CA! The event is scheduled to begin
tonight at approximately 7:20 PM Pacific Daylight time Tonight's
musical guests will include the Harvest Crusade Band led by Tommy
Walker, Big Tent Revival, Steve Grace and guitarist Doyle Dykes.
It has been a beautiful, warm day in Visalia, and the seats of Sunkist
Stadium are filling rapidly. Lots of people are still arriving.
Last night's "Harvest Jam" filled the stadium completely
with 14,500 people in attendance with a total of 1200 people making
decisions to follow Christ. The crowd broke attendance records at
Sunkist Stadium for any event.
Bryan St. Peters, Harvest Crusade Media Director, is interviewing
Jean Luc LaJoie of Contemporary Christian Band "The Kry."They
are excited to be considered part of the "Harvest Family"
and love participating in as many "Harvest Crusades" across
the country as possible. Jean Luc mentions The Kry's webpage, www.thekry.com.
The Harvest Crusade Band is opening with "His Love Endures
Forever." Tommy Walker teaches the audience the song, "I'm
Not Ashamed of the Gospel."
The stadium lights are n ow on and though it is still daylight,
the stadium seats are nearly filled to capacity.
Tommy Walker has the crowd stand to their feet to join the band
and singers in the song, "He's Turned My Mourning into Dancing
Again." They follow with the song, "No Greater Love."
Tommy speaks of how God's favor is on us here tonight. He then encourages
the audience to join in this next song, "Shout to the Lord."
Pastor Ricky Ryan of Santa Barbara Calvary Chapel introduces singer
and guitarist Steve Grace, from Australia. Steve talks of taking
steps of faith and how it is impossible to please God without faith.
He sings "On the Edge" while video plays showing radical
fotage of surfing, dirt biking and snowboarding.
Ricky Ryan shares about the upcoming offering to be taken - he
shares that Pastor Greg receives no honorarium from Harvest Crusades,
that every cent of the offering and from the sale of products goes
directly into the ministry to further the cause of evangelism. Local
Pastor Rich Guera prays for the offering. The Harvest Crusade Band
sings "Better is One Day."
Next Big Tent Revival (BTR) is preparing to "rock us"
tonight once again! They begin their set with "Mend Me."
Next they perform their popular song, "What Would Jesus Do?"
followed by another hit of theirs, "Two Sets of Joneses."
BTR was asked to play an encore number, "Star in the Book of
Life."
Pastor Greg is at the podium now and announces that 1200 people
made commitments to Christ last night at the Harvest Jam. Greg is
also announcing that last night we had over 1000 people watching
on the internet. Greg introduces guitarist Doyle Dykes. Doyle opens
with "Guitar 2000" and finishes with a beautiful rendition
of "How Great Thou Art."
Pastor Greg Laurie announces that tomorrow night is our final night
here at Sunkist Stadium and encourages people to bring an unsaved
friend to the final night, tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
The title of tonight's message is "Why People do not Come
to Christ." He begins his message tonight with a list of different
excuses that we have all used at one time or another. An article
in "USA Today" pointed out that "Each of us fibs
at least 50 times a day." We lie about our age, our income,
or our accomplishments. And we use lies to escape embarrassment.
We call these lies "Excuses." An excuse has been defined
as "The skin of a reason stuffed with a lie." In the same
way, people will make up countless excuses as to why they will not
come to Jesus Christ. Greg addresses 4 of the most commonly asked
questions:
- "If God is so good and loving, why does He allow evil?"
- "How can you Christians say 'Jesus is the only way?'
- "How can a God of love send someone to Hell?"
- "The reason I am not a Christian is there are so many hypocrites!
The point we must keep in mind is man not God is responsible
for sin! The rash of violence on our campuses is initiated by man,
not God. We have all these young kids killing other kids right
now. The experts are scratching their heads and trying to explain
it all. If history tells us anything, it is that man is not good,
but just the opposite. In fact, History as we know it is the story
of the Wars, destruction and bloodshed of mankind. Yet in spite
of our wrong choices, God intervenes. He is able and willing to
forgive us when we have sinned. "If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
You may say "If a person is really sincere in what they believe,
they will get to heaven." Do you really think "Sincerity"
is enough? Take this line of reasoning to it's logical conclusion.
If a person truly is sincere in what they believe and tries to live
a good life, then they will get to heaven. What would you think
of an Airline Pilot who announced just before takeoff, "Ladies
and gentlemen, welcome to flight 293 bout for Honolulu, Hawaii.
Our cruising altitude today will be 32,000 feet and we will be showing
a movie. By the way, I am not sure about this whole 'Fuel thing.'
I see the gauge is indicating we don't have enough fuel to reach
our destination, but I feel good about this, so don't panic. I am
not really using our navigation devices or any maps today because
I feel that is too narrow and bigoted. We'll just flow with it for
after all 'All roads lead to Hawaii.' One last thing, folks, I'm
very sincere!"
In John 3: 16-21, the Bible speaks of men loving darkness rather
than light, because their deeds were evil." Many people just
don't want to change. They want to continue as they always have.
Are you getting comfortable in the dark? Do you long for something
more in life? Do you want to be forgiven of your sin and have a
new beginning? Then no more excuses! Don't put off coming to Jesus
another day. Like Scarlet O'Hara in the movie "Gone With the
Wind," you say "I'll think about it tomorrow..."
That's life's most dangerous word: Tomorrow. Tomorrow cannot be
found on God's calendar. Tomorrow sounds so innocent, but it's life's
most dangerous word. Tomorrow is the road that leads to the town
called Never. Tomorrow is the barrel and bolted door that shuts
people out of heaven.
Pastor Greg urges people to come forward on the field to ask forgiveness
of their sin and ask Him into their lives.
Hundreds of people are streaming onto the field to make that decision
for Christ right now as the Harvest Band sings "He Knows My
Name." If you are watching on the internet at this time and
would like to make that commitment, you may pray that prayer with
Greg Laurie right where you are. You may click on the "How
to Know God" button at any time. You can also e-mail us
by clicking on the e-mail button also. Pastor Greg is beginning
to lead those on the field in the sinner's prayer right now. Pastor
Greg is showing all of those who prayed with Him, "The New
Believer's Bible." They will be given out to each new believer.
If you have prayed that prayer and asked Christ into your life,
let us know and we will send a copy of the "New Believer's
New Testament" to you also.
A reminder for all watching and listening, to join us tomorrow
night at 6:00 PM Pacific time!!!!!!
