Tami Hohmann and Christine Rachuy have a passion for sharing the love of Jesus Christ and have been doing so for many years through interpretation for the deaf at the Harvest Crusades. Serving hundreds of deaf attendees through translating tonight’s music and message into American Sign Language, Tami and Christine hope to relay the energy, the passion, and the worship of the evening to those seated in the Deaf Section. The job can be a little intimidating and a lot of fun. Being able to think on their feet and quickly relay the words and concepts of what is being spoken requires a lot of concentration and plenty of preparation weeks before the event. Not knowing what music the artists will sing beforehand, these ladies need to learn the lyrics of all the songs in each musician’s repertoire.
When asked what they love most about their ministry, they responded, “We get to be the ears for these people, bridging the gap in the communication connection, and relaying the most important message there is—the gospel of Jesus Christ!”
