Love Thy Neighbor

It's not just another program.
It's a mindset.


A while back, we had the privilege of sitting down with the senior pastor of a church in Philadelphia. As we talked, he shared that some people in his congregation were starting to refer to their home as "Kill-adelphia." He said that there was so much hurting, so much violence . . . and that now, more than ever, he felt the Church needed to come together and share the LOVE of Christ and proclaim the gospel message.

That conversation really stuck with me and later that week, after seeing the big red "L-O-V-E" sculpture at 15th and JFK, I thought, "Where is the LOVE?" Not to mention, I was in the "City of Brotherly Love" . . . right?

That moment was when it hit me . . . let's do exactly what the Bible tells us to do:

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:34–35 NKJV)

Let's simply demonstrate our LOVE for our community by:
  1. Praying daily for our friends, family and neighbors.
  2. Showing that we LOVE our community by looking and taking the opportunities that God gives us daily to share with others about Him and His LOVE for us.
  3. Invite them out to the Greater Philadelphia Harvest 08.

September 1 – October 5


Pray: Go to the Lord in prayer every morning for the upcoming Harvest 08 and ask that God would make it clear who He would have you speak with today.

Prepare: Begin every day by making sure you have a few Harvest 08 invites with you.

Listen: I am confident that the Lord will speak to you daily and ask you to share with someone about Harvest 08. It may be a simple invite, or it may turn into a 20-minute conversation about Jesus Christ . . . If He opens the door, are you willing to go through it?

So . . . what are you waiting for? Pray right now, grab a stack of Harvest 08 invitations and get out and invite someone!
