| What is a Harvest? |
Harvest Events are large-scale evangelistic events featuring a relevant
message both through a time in the Word of God and also through the talents
of Christian musicians, athletes, and guests. Harvest Events were first
started in 1990 and have since visited communities throughout the U.S. as
well as internationally in Australia and New Zealand. |
Where:
Harvest ‘05 will be held in the beautiful Hunter Region of New South Wales
approximately two hours north of Sydney. The region is known for its coal and
mining, wine country, beautiful scenery, great beaches, good food and friendly
people. The 2005 Harvest will be held September 8-11 at the Newcastle Entertainment
Centre.
What:
Harvest ’05 is a gathering of Christian churches from several denominations
working together to bring a biblical message of hope and salvation through a
relationship with Jesus Christ. This will be the second Harvest to be held in
Newcastle (See 2003 summary below). For several months various teams and committees
will be meeting to direct, organize, plan and pray for the many details needed
to fully impact the community.
Each evening will begin with great contemporary Christian music of various
styles appealing to a broad spectrum of listeners. Greg Laurie, will then bring
a simple but relevant message from the Bible. He will then give an opportunity
for those who want to receive Christ to respond that night. Saturday will have
a youth emphasis and an added event earlier in the afternoon.
All events are free and open to all to attend. Seating will be on a first come,
first served basis. Overflow will be provided.
2003 Summary:
The first Harvest was sponsored by 283 churches in September 2003 at
the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. It was a four night event with a total attendance
of 26,200 people. Some 2,458 indicated an interest in following Jesus Christ.
All received brief counseling, prayer, a New Testament, and were directed to
a nearby church.
