HARVEST 2001 - ARCO ARENA
SACRAMENTO, CA
Friday, 21 September 2001
This is a text only page, designed to be quickly reloaded as the crusade
evening progresses.
7:12 P.M. - Welcome to the opening night of the Sacramento Harvest Crusade!! This evening's event is just about to
get underway. Tonight's musical guests will be Delirious? from England and Crystal Lewis and her band. Pastor Greg Laurie from Riverside, California will
be bringing a special message tonight, which is titled, "Is The End of the World Near?" This will be a very timely message in lieu of
last week's recent attack on America at the World Trade Center in New York.
The seats are filling with people. They are anxiously awaiting tonight's crusade.
7:30 P.M. - Bob Shank, President of Harvest Crusade Board of Directors is welcoming the crowd and introducing Delirious?!
7:32 P.M. - Delirious? is now on stage and singing "Did You Hear the Mountains Tremble?" The chorus to this song is "Open up your
doors, let the music play, let the streets resound with singing!" This group has such a passion for worship, the audience responds and you
can just feel the Spirit of the Lord in this place tonight. They follow with "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever." Lead singer Martin shares
how this next song is about the effects of war. It is titled "White Ribbon Day." Lyrics of the chorus are "Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah for
White Ribbon Day." Next is "History Maker." Lead singer Martin sits at te keyboard and plays and sings his heart out.
8:05 P.M. - Bob Shank is at the podium and mentions the product available tonight and shares how the proceeds go to support the Harvest
Crusades.
Bob introduces Pastor Rick Stedman from Adventure Church who opens this evening's crusade in prayer.
Bob Shank prepares the audience for tonight's offering. He prays for the offering. Video is shown as the offering is taken. The video shows
clips from some of the previous Harvest Crusades and shares how Harvest Crusades is a non-profit organizaion. Pastor Greg Laurie and the
Harvest Crusade staff receives no honorariums from these events.
8:18 P.M. - Pastor Greg Laurie also welcomes the crowd and shares a little about each of the nights of this crusade. Saturday night
is the Harvest Jam, which is geared for the young; and Sunday night we will have a special candelight service at the conclusion of the
crusade.
Pastor Greg introduces Crystal Lewis.
Crystal opens with "Trust Me." She follows with "Lord I Believe." She shares how this next song was written after the event that
happened last week. She shares how God's Word spoke to her about not being anxious about anything, but to bring our requests to Him in
prayer and how things happen "When God's People Pray."
8:35 P.M. - Pastor Greg prays that we would see a great spiritual awakening in this country and specifically here
at Arco Arena. Pastor Greg shares how this is a Wake-Up call. His message is titled "Is The End of the World Near?" He says who
would have ever thought that these things could have happened here in America? He shares how a couple of the heroes on flight 93
were Jeremy Glick and Tod Beamer, and how they were true heroes by bringing the plane to the ground in Pennsylvania,
instead of allowing it to hit the target of the terrorists. He shares how Satan has influenced these terrorists to do these hanus
acts.
He shares how we are all sinners and we are all capable of sin. The text tonight is taken from the Gospel of John, Chapter 14:1-6.
He shares how man is evil and wicked to the core, but he doesn't have to be.
Pastor Greg shares how so many things have changed in the last few days. He shares how the government prior to this tragedy, wouldn't
allow prayer even in the schools, and now, after the tragedy, they are asking us to pray. He shares how the President calls a prayer
meeting and Scripture was shared at Congress and they came together to sing "God Bless America."
Pastor Greg shares how these are such uncertain times and we don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. He
says he thinks the Devil's plan has backfired!
He shares how people will get all excited about false quotes of "Nostradamus" and Miss Cleo, etc., but they won't even think about
opening or believing Bible prophecies, which have already happened. Pastor Greg shares how world history as we know it, is coming to
an end. Jesus is returning and the end is nearer than ever before! There is a new world coming when Jesus will return and set up His
kingdom. That is why Jesus warns us over and over to "watch and be ready," for we do not know when He is coming! The Bible says He
will come at a time that we do not know!
Pastor Greg asks, "If Jesus came tonight, would you be taken, or would you be left behind?" Sadly, many will be left. You might
say "I'll just get right with God when the Rapture happens!" But that won't be easy. If you can't live for Him now, what makes you
think you'll be able to die for him later? Rev. 3:20 says "Behold, I stand at the door and knock, and if you'll open the door of
your heart, I will come in..." To be ready to meet Him you must: 1) Admit that you are a sinner. 2) You must ask His forgiveness.
3) You must repent (turn) from your sin. 4) You must do it publicly. 5) You must do it now!
Pastor Greg shares that you never know when life on this earth is going to stop. The people at the World Trade Center did not
know when it was going to stop. The people at the Pentagon didn't know, the people on those flights that went down didn't know.
Pastor Greg prays for those here tonight, that the Lord would penetrate their hearts and that they would receive this gift of
salvation that Christ offers. Greg asks those who would like to come to Jesus to get out of their seats and come forward to make
a public declaration of their faith.
Hundreds are coming forward and filling the floor of Arco Arena right now. As people stream forward, Crystal sings "Come Just
As You Are."
If you are watching this broadcast or reading this page and would like to receive the free gift of salvation that only Christ
can offer, you can pray along with Greg tonight as he prays for all who have come forward here to make a decision to follow Christ.
Pastor Greg prays with the crowd here, "God, I am sorry for my sin, but I thank you for sending Jesus, the Son of God, to die on that
cross and shed His blood for every sin I have ever committed. Thank you for dying for me and help me to live for You! In Jesus' name,
Amen!"
Pastor Ron Norman from 1st Baptist Church of Elk Grove closes this evening in prayer.
If you have prayed with Pastor Greg tonight, let us know by clicking the "Feedback" button and let us know. We
would like to send you a free Bible, the same materials that are given to each person that has come down to pray with Pastor Greg.
May God Bless You! Don't forget to join us tomorrow night for the Harvest Jam!
