Friday, 6 July 2001

This is a text only page, designed to be quickly reloaded as the crusade evening progresses.

6:55 p.m. - The gates have just opened here at Edison Field, Anaheim, California for the first night of the Harvest Jam 2001! There is a lot of excitement in the air tonight, as we are having the first ever Christian Skateboarders' Association Exibition at a Harvest Crusade in about 30 minutes. Professional skateboarders will be up on the 3rd level, just to the right of the Jumbotron Screen. Ramps have been brought in for this event. Those who come to see the skateboarders will also hear the Gospel message and hopefully many will respond to it and give their lives to Christ. What an opportunity this is!

6:05 - The excitement is building here as thousands are entering the stadium and filling the seats. Tonight's line-up of musicians is especially exciting, as we have ATS (All Together Separate), Bleach and for the first time ever, Delirious from England.

At last night's Kids' Night, we had 14,000 in attendance, and 1000 made decisions for Christ, 100 of them being adults.

6:15 p.m. - Ricky Ryan welcomes the crowd from up on the skateboard area. The skateboard exibition is about to begin! Professional skateboarders will include Ben Roy. Ben is describing some of the aparatus to be used by the skateboarders. Some of the others include Richard Maulder, Anthony Pardy Seth Cheeks and Scott Yamamura. This event is sponsored by Skatestret in Ventura. Rick Zirco is another one of the skateboard pros performing tonight. This exibition has been awesome! The kids here have loved this!

7:00 p.m. - Pastor Greg Laurie is here in the internet area right now, being interviewed by Dave Spiker and bryan St. Peters. He is urging viewers (and readers of this text) to come out to the stadium tonight, if you are in the area, there is still time! We have learned that due to copyright legalities, we are unable to broadcast Delirious on this internet broadcast tonight. We will, however, keep you informed when they are playing and what songs they are performing.

The title of Pastor Greg's message tonight will be "The Problem With Man."

7:10 p.m. - Ricky Ryan introduces Pro Skateboarder Richard Maulder. Richard Maulder shares a few words from the podium about his personal testimondy and encourages the crowd to listen carefully to the message tonight, because eternity is at hand.

7:12 p.m. - Ricky Ryan indroduces Christian rock band, Bleach. The crowd here stands to their feet as Bleach sings and plays. The lead singer welcomes the crowd as they prepare for their next song, which is a worship song called "Hallelujah, Hallelujah." Lead snger says that he hopes the crowd does not just hear them tonight, or ATS, or Delirious, or even just the message that Pastor Greg brings, but that he hopes everyone here hears from God. Lead singer comes into the audience to sing the last song.

7:30 p.m. - All Together Separate are taking their places on the stage now. Ricky Ryan introduces Pastor Joe Sabolick from Calvary Chapel Laguna Beach to open this evening's crusade in prayer.

ATS opens with "Eternal Life Style." The crowd stands and claps along and many sing along. They follow with "We Know That You are God." Lead singer Dex Alexander shares that they have a new album coming out soon, and this next song is from that album and it is called "Day After Day."

7:45 p.m. - Ricky Ryan prepares the audience for the offering. He prays for tonight's offering, then as the ushes come forward to take the offering, ATS sing "Paradigm."

7:55 p.m. - Pastor Greg Laurie introduces Delirious, direct from England! They open with "God's Romance." The crowd stands and claps along. They really love this band! Next they perform "Deeper." Most of the crowd remains standing and clapping. They follow with "God You are My God." The crowd here is so excited, they continue to stand and clap with every song. The band is awesome. The audience seems to know most of the lyrics to their songs. Next they do "Mountains Temble." Everyone here seems to know these lyrics and are singing along. What a beautiful sound to hear everyone here singing together! Lead singer asks everyone to raise their hands together and he prays for everyone in stadium to allow the Holy Spirit to come upon them here tonight. Then they begin to sing "Awaken the Dawn." They follow with "Sing of Your Love Forever." Next song done by Delirious is "Glorious." They follow with "History Maker." This concludes their set tonight.

8:48 p.m. - Pastor Greg Laurie prays that the audience's heart would be open to the message tonight. His message title is "The Problem with Man." He shares a little of his testimony of how when he was a teenager, and how he had been wondering about "What is the meaning of life?" He shares how he had heard a Bible study going on at lunchtime on his high school campus, and he realized that maybe the Christians were right and he was wrong. He shares about the speaker and says that there was one thing the speaker said is that Christ said, "You are either for Me or against Me," and he says that next thing he knew, he was up there praying with those people and that's why he is here tonight, to share God's love with everyone here and tell them the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Greg shares how everyone of us have sinned and have fallen short of the Glory of God. He shares how none of us have to learn to sin, it comes naturally. He talks about how our problems are deep down inside of us. He talks about how people today just live for the moment and for the pleasures of this world. He talks of how we just seek after pleasures and how this is not a new problem, he shares in Ecclesiastes how Solomon spoke of the same thing. Pastor Greg talks of how Jonathan Davis, lead singer of Korn, spoke on MTV about how unhappy he is. He was shown kissing a bottle of Prozac and saying "This is my best friend. I don't know true happiness. I'm not a happy person. I play like it, I act like it a lot. But inside, actually I'm really not that happy."

Pastor Greg shares that we might ask "Why do we sin?" He says it's because we have a "hole in our heart," that is a longing for God. He shares how sin stated with Adam and Eve. The Bible says in Romans 5:12, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all have sinned." He shares how sin is a DEFIANCE against God. He says that sin is also a DEFECT, a DECEPTION. Pastor Greg says that "Your sin will find you out." He shares that no matter what, you can't cover these things up. We have to come clean and confess our sin.

Pastor shares that if you want to come to the Lord tonight, you have to see that you are a sinner. Jesus came to the earth 2000 years ago and died for every sin ever committed and if you accept His forgiveness, you can have eternal life. There has never been anyone to walk this earth, who was like Jesus. Pastor Greg shares how God became man in human flesh and how He came to pay a debt He didn't owe, for a debt we could not pay. He shares about how Christ shed His blood for our sins. Pastor Greg says that you can be forgiven tonight and all you need to do is:

1. Admit that you are a sinner.

2. Recognize that Christ died for your sin.

3. Repent (Change your direction). Go toward God. Turn from your sin.

4. Receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

5. Do it publically.

6. Do it now!!

Pastor Greg prays for everyone here, that those who do not know Christ in a personal way would see their need for Him. He asks those who would like to receive Christ's forgiveness, to begin immediately to walk down to the outfield to make a proclamation of their faith.

Many are walking down to the field now. As they are coming, ATS sings "He Knows My Name." As people continue to come, ATS sings "Holiness."

9:40 p.m. - Pastor Greg prays with those who have come forward, "Lord, I am sorry for my sin. I repent of it tonight. Thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross and shed His blood for every sin I have ever committed. Thank you for calling me and accepting me and forgiving me for every sin I have ever committed. Amen."
