Tom Russell Associate Pastor
Being raised in a Christian home was not enough to keep me from the depths of sin after enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1972. Free from parental authority and a solid moral compass, I quickly joined the hippie counter-culture and gave in completely to the stranglehold of alcohol and drug addiction, and everything immoral. Accepting Christ in 1974 was both spiritual and physical salvation, as my life was headed for a certain and fatal drug overdose. Mine was one of those "thunder and lightening" conversions, completely permeating everything in my life. Jacque and I met in church in 1975, and after proposing ten days later, we began the great adventure that God had planned for us from eternity past. We graduated Bible college together in 1978 and have been serving in part and full-time ministry ever since. I believe God has given us the type of marriage many couples only dream about, sustaining us through the challenges of college, seminary, pastoring a small country church, and the postings and separations of seven years in the Marine Corps Reserve and 17 years as an Army Chaplain. How great is our God!
