Deputy Brandan Hinkle - Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department


Deputy Brandan HinkleOn Wednesday, February 14th, 2001, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Brandan Hinkle died in a head-on collision while riding his department motorcycle. Deputy Hinkle, 33, died shortly after the 3 p.m. accident. He was southbound behind a training officer on Brea Canyon Cut-off Road just south of Pathfinder Road (Diamond Bar, CA) when he collided with a northbound Lexus at a bend in the road. Hinkle was taken to Brea Community Hospital in Brea, CA where he was pronounced dead.

Hinkle was an 11-year Sheriff's Department veteran. He was assigned to the Lomita station for the past nine years. He was training to be a motorcycle deputy at the Walnut Sheriff's Station. Hinkle had been training for two to three months and was just weeks away from becoming a motorcycle deputy. Hinkle was married and leaves behind his wife of six years.

Funeral Services for Deputy Hinkle were held on Thursday, February 22, 2001, at 1000 hours at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, 3800 S. Fairview Road, Santa Ana, CA. Following the services, a graveside ceremony was held at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA.
