“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God . . . For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil . . . For he is God’s minister to you for good”
—Romans 13:1-4— (NKJV)
WELCOME to the Shield of Faith web page:
As police officers or firefighters, God has privileged you with a very demanding job to perform and a difficult task to fulfill. God has given you a vital and crucial role in life. Your responsibilities are enormous and, at times, overwhelming.
Your life can, at any moment, end in tragedy because of the profession you have chosen. Yet, you continue in your profession because of your love and desire to help those who are in need. Concerning such love, Jesus said,
“Greater love has no man than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13 NKJV).
As a one time fellow firefighter and captain; and presently a police chaplain and fire chaplain, I know that your job can be very rewarding and, yet, very destructive.
My desire is to help you maintain a good, healthy balance in your job, as well as, in your personal life. I know the effects that your job can have on you and on your family members.
The Shield of Faith web page is an outreach for firefighters, police officers, and their spouse. It is designed with the intent of ministering to the men and women in law enforcement and the fire service by encouraging them to remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ and steadfast in their profession.
I pray this web page would be beneficial to the spouse of those in law enforcement and the fire service. It is the spouse who often times has to put up with the anger and frustration that is brought home from the job. It is the spouse who often times gets the blunt end of the frustrations of the day's work. It is the spouse who needs to be there at these times to simply love, encourage, and provide godly counsel. It is the spouse who needs to be encouraged by the Word of God in order that they might have the strength and wisdom to deal with the different issues as they arise.
“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him” —Psalms 18:30— (NKJV)
May the Lord keep you safe and out of harms way as you continue to perform the duties to which God has called you!
God bless you,

Pastor / Chaplain Steve Ballinger
