It was a good question, and I did a little research. Here’s what I found. There are 66 books in the bible. The Torah and Tanakh (Old Testament) are comprised of 907 chapters. The New Testament has 260 chapters. That’s a total of 1167 chapters. Taking the weeks of Christmas and Easter into consideration, we basically have 50 weeks each year to teach. If we study the bible, a chapter per week, it will take 23.34 years to finish God’s Word. When we read the bible linearly, a chapter each day, we finish the bible in 3.2 years. Plus we have a better understanding of the themes & context of each book, and how they fit together in the big picture. We live in exciting times, and the world offers us a myriad of God-less options. The level of faithfulness we employ today, in making those choices, will drastically effect our futures.
