Easter at the Bren

Sunday, we celebrated the day when, 2000 years ago, Jesus rose victoriously from the tomb, conquering sin, Satan, and death. The seats at the Bren Events Center filled as the body of Christ brought friends, family, neighbors, and acquaintances to hear Phil Wickham in song and Pastor Greg Laurie preach the Word.

It was a blessing to see so many familiar faces greeting one another with a hug of love and a joyful “Happy Easter; He is risen!”

I was privileged to meet a woman by the name of Nancy who told me a little about her life—how she had overcome lymphoma, breast cancer, and hepatitis C. She was happy to be celebrating the victory of Jesus’ resurrection with Rebecca, a woman whose foster parents had passed away. Now the Lord uses Nancy in Rebecca’s life to give her a kind word and a warm hug. Nancy praises the One who healed her, and Rebecca gives thanks and praise to her risen Savior. It reminds me how incredibly blessed we are to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection openly and how He often uses the trials in our lives to bring us closer to Him.

God drew many closer to Him as they responded when Pastor Greg gave the invitation. It was a blessing to see so many. It was a blessing to share the day with others who were there to serve the One who died and rose again—all for us! It was a day to celebrate life victorious in Jesus!
