A Godly Life for the Godly Wife

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live . . . Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. –Titus 2:3-5

The Mentoring Matters Ministry of Harvest is an in-home small group study based upon the Titus 2 model. The current nine-week session is unique, as it is for married women. It is titled Godly Life for a Godly Wife and is designed to encourage and equip married women of all ages be a wife after His own heart. With a mentor and guided curriculum, women receive practical and biblical suggestions for encouragement in their marriage. Karen Brooks, a mentor in the ministry, sees the “hunger and eagerness in the women to be godly wives.” She finds it encouraging that she can minister and be ministered to by the ladies in her group as “we each have a different perspective.”

The ministry provides a comfortable and familiar setting as the groups are small and the homes are cozy. As the women gather in family rooms or around dining room tables, they laugh, listen, and share life together. Nicole Luna, group member, enjoys learning from the other women in the group. She quoted Proverbs: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” This is really the heart of the ministry; women who are young in the faith, or just need some sharpening, learn from the wisdom and spiritual maturity of women who love God and are practicing His Word daily. Judy Infante, group member and long-time Harvest member, stated, “You never have it all together. You’re always learning new things.”

Topics being covered in this session include: being your husband’s best friend, respect, communication, encouragement, and more–important and necessary topics for a godly wife. Veronica Mclanson summed it up the best when she said, “Learning to be a wife that pleases Him is the most important thing.”

The Mentoring Matters Ministry has sessions offered several times per year. They are available morning and evening, Monday through Friday, and Saturday morning as well. Be on the lookout for what the next session has in store.
