Easter Is Coming!

An estimated 103.4 million people watched the 2018 Super Bowl take place which revealed the prominence it has in many homes throughout America. This is a staggering amount of people all watching the same thing around the same time, yet I hate to break it to you; this is still not the greatest thing, even since sliced bread. The greatest event that has taken place throughout history took place over 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ, who suffered and died, though he did nothing deserving of death, conquered the enemies of death and sin by rising again to life. Why? He did it for us. “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV).

As Christians this is the main event which points to an even greater event when Christ returns. This is the news that is worth sharing. This is the news that is worth dying for, which many have done in our church history. As Easter is approaching I want to encourage you to be prepared. Yes, Easter is here again, but don’t lose sight of what we as Christians are celebrating. The apostle Paul wrote, “‘Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57 ESV). We have victory over sin and death because Jesus is our victorious King who conquered both sin and death through His death and resurrection. The tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive! This changes everything!

Let me encourage you to get ready:

Be prepared by reflecting on the seriousness of your sin, and the greatness of God’s grace for the forgiveness of your sin (1 John 1:9).

Be prepared by asking God to give you direction on who you can share the greatest news with, of what Jesus did on our behalf.

Be prepared by grabbing flyers and asking friends, neighbors, and coworkers to come with you and your family to church at some point on Easter weekend as we have many options available. To check out more go to easter.harvest.org.

Let us be prepared as we celebrate what our Savior has done for us!
