Meet Claire Baxter!

Serving in the Children’s Ministry at Virtue for four years, Claire Baxter has attended Harvest OC since its inception at the Free Chapel in Irvine. She says, “I love my Harvest family. I like the genuine people I have met. They really love Jesus and want to follow Him and have an authentic faith I haven’t seen at other churches.”

Serving in Decision Follow-Up and Prayer & Share, Claire says that she chose Children’s Ministry after she prayed about where to serve. “I have this teaching credential and knew I had it for a reason such as this. You do not need a credential to do this. God calls and He provides.” Claire also leads the Bible study for the volunteers after the children are picked up. “We miss the main teaching” she admits, “but we are so incredibly blessed working behind the scenes serving the Lord and Him alone. To Him be the glory!”

As with any ministry, there are challenges as well as rewards and she admits that her biggest challenge is “finding other like-minded servants to answer the call. This is a high calling. We are serving God, praying for these precious children, praying for their parents and families. We want the very best to serve alongside us as we raise up the next generation of our church.”

When asked about the biggest reward that she receives serving in this ministry, she says it is “praying with the little ones. The Bible says in Matthew 19:14 ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the kingdom of heaven.’ Serving these children brings me closer to God. And Matthew 18:5 says, ‘Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on My behalf is welcoming Me!'”

Are you ready to make 2016 your year to start serving here at Harvest?

Claire candidly states, “Sitting back and doing nothing won’t help you grow spiritually. You need to be serving. You need to read the Bible, pray, attend church, share your faith and get involved serving. If you can hold a baby, read a book to a toddler, wipe a nose or a tear, hug, laugh, and have a good time with some young people, Children’s Ministry might be just the place for you.”
